A model that works
We've built something extraordinary. Now let's build on it.
Gow Lodge has shown what can be achieved when a community comes together with determination, compassion and a shared vision. With seven en-suite rooms now established, JPK is looking ahead — first to creating more opportunities for people with learning disabilities across our community, and in the longer term, to creating more supported-living homes for those who need them.
Our next chapter
The building was the beginning. Help us fill it with opportunities.
With Gow Lodge established and its rental income supporting existing operating costs, JPK's next chapter is about reaching further into our community.
We want to develop welcoming spaces, practical resources and meaningful activities that help adults with learning disabilities discover new interests, build confidence, develop life skills and form lasting friendships.
From creative workshops and cooking activities to group outings and shared experiences, our vision is to create more opportunities for more people — not just those who live at Gow Lodge.
Creative opportunities
Arts, crafts and hands-on activities that encourage expression, enjoyment and confidence.
Life skills
Cooking, practical learning and everyday experiences that support greater independence.
Friendships & connection
Group activities, outings and social opportunities that bring people together and reduce isolation.
Community facilities
Developing welcoming spaces, equipment and resources to make more activities possible.

Our longer-term ambition
Seven rooms changed seven lives. Imagine what we could do next.
Gow Lodge has shown what is possible. Today, seven people have a place to call home, with the support they need to live with greater independence, dignity and choice.
But seven en-suite rooms are only a beginning. Across Eastbourne and the surrounding area, there are many more adults with learning disabilities who could benefit from the same opportunity.
Our longer-term ambition is to build on the success of Gow Lodge by developing another supported-living community locally.

First, we want to strengthen the financial foundations of what we've already achieved, including working towards paying off the existing Gow Lodge mortgage. With a sustainable foundation, we hope to take the next steps towards creating more homes and more opportunities for independent living.
It's an ambitious vision, and one that will take time, planning and partnership. But Gow Lodge itself began with an ambition — and look what our community achieved together.
- Protect the long-term success and sustainability of Gow Lodge.
- Work towards paying off the existing mortgage.
- Explore plans and partnerships for a future supported-living development in the Eastbourne area.
- Create more opportunities for local adults with learning disabilities to have a home of their own.
